A regular and valued feature as part of Digital Manufacturing Week, Made Smarter Innovation Alley is the UK’s leading showcase of all the new and developing technologies that will change the landscape of manufacturing over the next five to ten years.

Megan Ronayne, Knowledge Transfer Manager at KTN said, “Made Smarter Innovation Alley is the most exciting showcase of disruptive innovation in the UK manufacturing calendar, and we are delighted to be able to support it.  Each year I am blown away with the talent that exhibit on the Alley and to see 50 cutting-edge businesses all together in one place, in real life this year too, is so exciting.  Smart Factory Expo attracts decision-makers across manufacturing, so it is a fantastic place for these small, early-stage companies to showcase their solutions, test their pitches, discuss their future R&D plans and engage with potential customers and partners.  We recently caught up with 2 companies from the Innovation Alley Alumni - Total Control Pro and SamsonVT, , who provided excellent advice to anyone considering to exhibit Go for it - it will transform your business”

As a sneak preview of what the Alley has in store in 2021, here are the first six of these successful businesses who have been awarded a place :   Authentise, Tangent Works, Enable Manufacturing, Certify IT, FloWide and HAL Robotics.  Here we explain why their technologies are game-changers for the manufacturing industry.

The first 6 organisations at Innovation Alley
  • Tangent Works

Tangent Works was founded by a team of data scientists and mathematicians who believed in the power of predictive modeling for optimizing operations and reducing costs, but found that existing methods were far too complex for broad adoption.

Tangent Works provides business value with their automated TIM InstantML (machine learning) solution (what’s TIM?). With a single pass of the data the TIM API provides you with data insights in seconds, predicting QA (QUality Assurance) parameters, demand forecasting, equipment health monitoring and providing RCA (RCA? ) analysis following process or equipment failures.

"The Tangent Works UK team is excited to showcase our predictive analytics solutions on the Made Smarter Innovation Alley. I’m particularly looking forward to connecting directly with a wide range of manufacturers, communicating our proven case studies and partner-led collaborative solutions as well as exploring development opportunities for new use cases and collaborations." said Mike Thomas, Managing Director at Tangent Works UK

  • HAL Robotics

HAL Robotics simplifies the programming of complex or variable processes involving industrial robots.

“HAL Robotics are thrilled to be participating in the Made Smarter Innovation Alley to showcase their latest developments to potential clients we know are open to novel technologies, and meet like minded co-exhibitors with whom we hope to explore collaborative ideas to create turn-key solutions for currently complex manufacturing problems.” said Sebastian Andraos, Director

  • Enable Manufacturing

Enable Manufacturing brings a new, innovative manufacturing process to life – Additive Casting. The process uses moulds made via additive manufacturing to cast high-quality production parts from over 130 different metals. It bridges the gap between traditional casting and state-of-the-art manufacturing, offering the volume benefits of casting while increasing possible complexity, cutting lead times and eliminating the need for expensive tooling.

Anja Stolte, Head of Marketing at Enable Manufacturing said, “This is a great platform for innovative companies with new technology as it solely focuses on innovation. After taking part in last year's virtual event, we are excited to join the live event this year so visitors can get their hands on all the strange and wonderful metal parts we can make with our Additive Casting® technology .”

  • Authentise

Authentise delivers data-driven process management solutions for highly agile business units of large corporations, such as Fabrication, MRO, Prototype & more.

Their solutions build on their experience serving the most agile industry of all: additive manufacturing. Clients such as Boeing, 3M, Danfoss and others have seen savings of up to 93% with 6x ROI in the first year while maintaining a firmer grasp of operations, with greater compliance and learning of how agile processes can be adopted by the rest of the organization.

Andre Wegner, CEO at Authentise said, "Innovation Alley is an exciting opportunity for us to test new products for the first time. We’ve perfected our data-driven and connected workflow management tools in the additive manufacturing industry over the last decade. Now we can’t wait to meet industry leaders from across manufacturing to discuss how we can help deliver more agility, transparency, and efficiency for them, too.”

  • CertifyIT

Certify IT have combined Blockchain and Verifiable Credentials to empower SMEs with digital quality certificates the ability to easily verify, update, trace, and share them with third parties such as supply chain partners, customers, suppliers, internal and external auditors.

Using older quality management tools can be challenging when gathering quality compliance and certification data. The lack of dataset background behind quality certificates makes SMEs lose time and money before and after the certification process to prove quality compliance to partners on the international market. With workflow automation and digital certificates, CertifyIt turns a paper or a pdf certificate into a reliable dataset.

CEO of CerityIT, Tatiana  Solodovnikova said,  “We're highly excited to be a part of the Innovation Alley, have a chance to contribute to the growing, like-minded digital manufacturing community, and empower our potential customers to automate quality compliance workflows to share digital quality with third parties in seconds. Smart Factory Expo is the right uniting place to present digital and accelerate adoption directly into industry.”

  • Flowide

FloWide offers a material & asset flow optimisation solution to the manufacturing industry.

With experience deploying Ultra Wideband powered solutions FloWide has a deep understanding of the potential real-time location data has to revolutionise manufacturing. Utilising this knowledge, they support their partners in their efforts to improve the efficiency of their production lines by relying on simulation, existing hardware deployments and UWB-powered location technologies.

Co-Founder of FloWide, Vincent Borgraeve shared his thoughts.  "Being part of Innovation Alley is a major milestone for FloWide. We can’t wait to have face to face discussions with manufacturers and collect their feedback about our location tracking solution. Digitalising manufacturing processes is a vital step in identifying potential solutions and increasing resilience in the face of future challenges."
